What it Means to “Keep the Faith”
Paul “Kept the Faith”
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.
Fight the Good Fight
The “good fight” mentioned in this verse refers to the battle of faith. At times, our faith will be challenged. Every day, we have a choice to react to life’s challenges with faith or with fear and doubt. It is up to us to rise above our doubts and to have an unyielding faith in God’s goodness and the truth of His Word. We must not give in to the forces of darkness and ignore the promises of the Scriptures, as doing so could lead us to a state of confusion and depression.
Finishing the Course
We are in a race, and we must complete the race in order to get our prize. However, unlike other races, this isn’t about who can finish the fastest, it’s about not giving up and simply making it to the end. Our challenge is to face each day with determination and courage, and to tackle any problems that come our way. When we encounter difficulties, we have a choice: we can either react with panic, bitterness, and complaints, or we can choose to be grateful for everything that God has given us, even the challenges that test our faith. James and Peter encourage us to rejoice when we face trials because they help us to grow stronger and closer to God. When our faith is challenged we can find encouragement in the truth of His Word, for we know that “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” – James 1:12
Keeping the Faith
Faith is a powerful force that can move mountains. As it is written, “if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Therefore, it is important to align ourselves with the Lord and His teachings by applying the principles found in the Scriptures to our lives. We should capture every thought and make it obedient to Christ, relying on the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome any obstacle that comes our way. By equipping ourselves with God’s Word and having unwavering confidence in His goodness, we can navigate life’s difficulties and emerge victorious. We must always remember that we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us, and that we can do all things through Him who gives us strength. Let us declare boldly that we will fight the good fight of faith and emerge victorious!
